Injectables Q & A

What are injectables?

Injectables are safe, effective aesthetic treatments to temporarily enhance your appearance. Injectables help to target your problem areas — without invasive surgery or artificial-looking results.

Injectables, such as dermal fillers and Botox, smooth away signs of aging by minimizing fine lines, restoring fullness in your cheeks and lips, filling deep lines and wrinkles, and lifting a downturned mouth. Injectable fillers also help to rejuvenate your hands by restoring the fullness that you lose with age.

Can anyone get injectables?

Dr. Barker at Peak Plastic Surgery Center reviews your medical history during your initial consultation to make sure that injectables are right for you. He tells you whether you’re a good candidate for injectables and discusses your aesthetic goals.

Injectable fillers might not be suitable for you if you suffer from:

  • Cold sores
  • Certain allergies
  • Bleeding issues

Botox isn’t right for you if you’re:

  • Pregnant
  • Breastfeeding
  • Allergic to certain ingredients

You also shouldn’t have Botox injections with certain nerve or muscle conditions.

Some medications, such as ibuprofen, may make you bruise easily, affecting your results. Be sure to tell Dr. Barker about all of the medications you’re taking, including vitamins and supplements.

What happens when I get injections?

Dr. Barker analyzes your face to determine the appropriate treatment areas. He applies a numbing cream to make the injections more comfortable. The needle might sting a tiny bit.

Botox injections usually take just 10 minutes. Fillers may take a bit longer, depending on the number of injections you’re having. Dr. Barker may suggest a series of injections to achieve optimal results.

How long do injectable fillers last?

Most fillers are made of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance. These fillers typically last up to 12 months, although results vary. You'll want to come back regularly to Peak Plastic Surgery Center for maintenance treatments to continue to enjoy your results.

How long does injectable Botox last?

Your results typically last up to four months for moderate to severe frown lines, although results vary. Because Botox isn’t permanent, you can expect your lines and wrinkles to slowly return unless you regularly update your injections.

If you’re ready to turn back the clock on signs of aging, call today or book a consultation online with Peak Plastic Surgery Center to discuss injectables.
