Get Your Pre-Baby Body Back With a Mommy Makeover

It’s hard to calculate all the positive changes and numerous gifts that babies bring into your life. Once you’ve had your last child, however, you may not be so delighted with what’s happened to your body during pregnancy and nursing. If you’ve reached your pre-pregnancy weight, but find your curves, skin, and breasts have shifted into a new dimension, a mommy makeover is a great solution.

Our team at Peak Plastic Surgery in Denver is led by top-rated plastic surgeon, Eric Barker, MD. Dr. Barker is delighted to offer moms a chance to recapture their pre-baby body with a mommy makeover. Our customized plans give you the opportunity to choose a complete makeover or address just one or two troublesome spots, such as your breasts and waistline.

Mommy makeover basics

A mommy makeover is a collection of cosmetic surgical procedures that address post-pregnancy and after-nursing problem spots that may include your:

During your initial consultation at Peak Plastic Surgery, Dr. Barker discusses the surgery in detail and takes time to reflect on your expectations and goals regarding the procedure.

A mommy makeover typically includes:

The mommy makeover is a popular procedure that can boost your self-confidence and enhance your self-esteem as you move through the ever-changing adventure of parenthood.

What makes a mommy makeover more effective than diet and exercise?

A balanced, nutritious diet and routine exercise are imperative for good health. In fact, at Peak Plastic Surgery, we don’t recommend you consider a mommy makeover if you plan on having more children and/or have not reached your ideal weight.

Unfortunately, however, during pregnancy, your skin often stretches beyond its capacity to become tight again once you’ve delivered a child. Abdominal muscles weaken and become lax during pregnancy as well and often respond poorly to strengthening exercises, no matter how well or how frequently you perform them.

The demands of nursing can permanently alter your breast shape, lift, and volume. And those pockets of fat that pregnancy can leave behind, which lie between your skin and muscle, don’t respond to diet or exercise either.

During a mommy makeover procedure, Dr. Barker focuses on removing excess skin, rebuilding muscle health, restoring lift, and reshaping your curves in a way that exercise and diet can’t.

Recovering from your mommy makeover

Dr. Barker provides detailed instructions regarding post-surgical care and sees you for regular follow-up visits after the procedure. In general, it can take several weeks for the surgical incisions to heal and the swelling to fully resolve. You can typically expect steady improvement, however, and will soon return to normal activities.
